“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
For the Fallen – Laurence Binyon – 1914
At Ashton Manufacturing, every year, we pay respect to our service men and women—both past and present. We say thank you to all, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice, so we can grow as a nation, as a united country, as free men and women.
From the bottom of our heart, thank you.
Lest we forget.

First of all, we hope that you, your loved ones, your staff and your customers are healthy and safe during those challenging times.
This crisis is affecting all of us, and, like most of us, we have been adapting day after day to this ever-changing situation.
We, at Ashton Manufacturing, are taking this threat extremely seriously, and we have put measures in place so we can provide our products in a responsible way.
We are open for business, but our gates are closely guarded, and no unnecessary visit to our premises are allowed.
Therefore, we, sadly, had to cancel factory tours and product inspections in our facilities.
Upon entry on our facilities, we check the temperature of every individual, and we have a strict policy for everyone to wash their hands before entering our premises.
If you come to pick up a product, we will require you to abide bythose rules, and we offer a no contact experience.
Our trucks are still running around the country, and around the clock to deliver our products to you. Our truck drivers will try to minimize contact as well. They are also cleaning all surfaces and touch-points of their vehicles between deliveries.
We wish you the best, and we will get through this crisis together.
If you’d like to discuss our new COVID-19 policies, please call us on 1300 263 346.

We’d like to show you an easy way to professionally display your coffin and casket range on an iPad.
In the past, funeral homes like yours told us:
- “We would like to have the option to show families our coffin/casket range on an iPad.”
- “We find it difficult setting up our iPads to display our coffin range.”
- “We want full control of the content on our iPads.”
- “We’d like the ability to display our coffin range on a flat screen in the arrangement room.”
- “We need an app that can display our other products and services too.”
- “Plugging into the computer and using iTunes to send images to the iPad is clumsy and confusing – there must be an easier way.”
These were valid points – I’m sure you can relate to at least one of them.
So on your behalf, we tested a range of iPad apps that you could use to display your coffin and casket range (plus your other products & services too).
And eventually, we found one that:
- Overcame the above issues;
- Was cheap ($4.49 from the App Store);
- Was suitable for funeral arrangements;
- Could be updated wirelessly; and
- Was easy to use.

It happens every couple of years.
A funeral home transfer vehicle pulls up at our factory to collect the extra large coffin they’ve ordered.
The person opens the back of their vehicle and realises it’s not wide enough to fit the coffin inside!
This is an awkward situation, but it can be easily avoided.
These 6 points will seem obvious for an experienced funeral director like yourself, however they may be helpful for your less experienced colleagues…
- Size of vehicle. Make sure the 100cm wide (or any width) coffin you order will fit into your transfer vehicle. Note: You may need to check your hearse opening size too.
- Measuring the deceased. Ensure you measure horizontally across the width of the deceased (not up and over the deceased). Note: Be careful when relying on another funeral home, the coroner or some other third-party for sizes. They can sometimes be inaccurate with their measurements of the deceased – which can lead to you ordering the wrong size coffin.
- Size of cremator opening. Ensure the cremator you’re using is wide enough to take the coffin. Note: we, as a manufacturer, usually refer to a coffin’s internal measurements when talking with funeral directors (i.e. “80cm wide”). However, the external width of this ‘80cm wide’ coffin, plus the handles, may be more like 95cm wide.

- Capacity of lowering device. For burial: can the lowering device carry the weight of the coffin plus the deceased? Is the lowering device capable of carrying a coffin of this width? Note: A large MDF coffin alone can weigh 50kg.
- Extra handles. If there are going to be pallbearers, consider requesting 8 handles (4 on each side). You could even request a handle at each end of the coffin too (10 handles in total). Note: You can request the handles to be bolted on rather than just screwed.
- Extra time for special orders. Allow yourself some extra time if you need to order a special customised size. Note: You’re welcome to call us during an arrangement to confirm a lead time for production of your extra large coffin.
If you’d like to discuss ordering a special, oversize coffin, please call us on 1300 263 346.

To improve service to Victorian funeral directors, we’ve now set up a full Expression Coffin manufacturing facility in our warehouse at Campbellfield (Vic).
The team in Campbellfield are now independently printing and wrapping coffin designs for funeral homes in the state (See the image of our Vic guys wrapping one of our patented Expression Coffin designs).
The benefit for Victorian funeral homes is that your Expression Coffin deliveries can now be quicker.
Also, once the artwork is approved, your urgent orders can be collected from our Campbellfield factory with only a 24-hour turnaround.
And, because we use only water-based inks, you can pick up a brand-new Expression Coffin and there’ll be no solvent fumes being released into your hearse or transfer vehicle.
Victorian funeral homes can call Patrick Di Lizio on 0488 223 351 to place an Expression order.

We wanted to let you know that we’ve just introduced a larger sized coffin into our Expression range. It’s available in all our standard and personalised designs.
Above is the Succulents of Colour Expression Coffin design shown in both our standard and new, larger size.
The dimensions of this new size are:
Internally: L2000 x W600 x D380 (mm)
Externally: L2070 x W670 x D410 (mm) [add extra width for handles]
The new size comes with the familiar Expression Coffin shape: flat lid with rolled edges and no mouldings.
Of course, our regular ‘standard’ size Expression coffin is still available too.
When you require this larger coffin, just refer to it on your order as the ‘2000x600x380 size’ Expression.
